Modern Hymnal Recordings is a record label based in New York City. We started after a conversation ran late into some candlelight and Bon Iver in Brooklyn in 2010.

The people who run this label are people who you are already familiar with. You have seen and heard our work on TV, in film, and on what is left of good radio. You've been to our shows and we've slept on your floors. You already have many of our records in your personal collection. You know us well and you trust our opinion.

For years, we toured the country, played shows, gave interviews, made well received records, and met a lot of great people. It is a time we will never forget. Now we are stepping back from the stage to behind the curtain, and pushing others to the front.

We got where we are because someone believed in us, and now we're paying it forward.

We believe in the record and we believe in the band. We believe the journey is just as important as the destination. We came from damp basements and dirty practice rooms, art spaces and after-hours sessions at the recording studio.

We believe that the recorded sound is our modern hymnal, and we are preachers of that gospel.

In the beginning and the end there is the record. Modern Hymnal is here to participate in the miracle of its creation.
